Let my introduce myself. My name is Karen McKishen and I will be your child's teacher this year.  This will be my twenty-third year teaching the first grade at CWCS . I am looking forward to being your child's teacher this year.

Burlington, Iowa, is the place of my birth. I grew up in a Christian home and came from a family of six.  In 1972 I graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. Iowa Wesleyan College is located in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and is the oldest co-ed college west of the Mississippi.  I began my teaching career in Wahiawa, Hawaii, at a Christian school called King's Schools. I taught kindergarten there for six years. In 1979 my husband, our five-year old daughter, and I moved here to Montrose, Co.

I am thankful for the many years the Lord has allowed me to teach in Christian schools.  I am a strong believer in Christian education and look forward to at least a few more years of teaching if the Lord so wills it. 

What are my hobbies? I really enjoy reading - Christian fiction, biographies, historical fiction. I also enjoy genealogy, trying to learn all I can about my family's past.  I also enjoy getting together with our daughter and her husband as much as possible. They live in Maricopa, Arizona.  

Please pray for us as a class. My desire is that each child grows mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially. My prayer is that each child will want to live for Jesus and that they will someday make heaven their home.
